Square Enix are set to release Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII on Valentines Day, February 14 2014 in Europe, and slightly earlier on February 11th in North America for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. They have uploaded a new video; Inside the Square, part 1, the first of a three part series looking behind the scenes of the next instalment of the Final Fantasy series of games.
"Only 13 days remain until the end of the world."
And so begins Lightning's quest to save humanity before the world of Nova Chrysalia is destroyed.
Players will be in control of Lightning, the popular character from the previous Final Fantasy XIII games, and with that, the games promises to be a more action oriented, free-roaming adventure. Different weapons and costumes will be available, which alter the way in which Lightning can fight, giving her different moves and abilities in battle; there's even a SOLDIER 1st Class uniform for all you Cloud Strife and FFVII fans!
Of course the visuals will most certainly be a feast for the eyes, as they always are with the Final Fantasy games. The series is famous for it's lush environments, and fantastic magical spells and summons, and there's no doubting that the next instalment will continue in this fashion.
However, will the release of the PlayStation 4 in November, and a rumoured release of the Xbox One in the same month, encroach on this game's sales? There's always that risk when games are released towards the end of a console's life cycle. Let's hope not!
