Taiwanese metal band Chthonic visited the UK last month, playing the Pepsi MAX tent at this year's Download Festival at Donington Park, Derby, England. They brought with them a six-piece Taiwanese band of musicians playing traditional Chinese instruments to accompany their metal riffs.
I had not heard any of their music prior to watching them perform here, and had only heard of them by name, but I was quite impressed. The crowd loved them; singing along, with chants of "Chthonic! Chthonic! Chthonic!". The accompanying traditional Chinese instruments added an interesting element to their sound, and their image looked fantastic.
I had a great time, even though I didn't know any of the songs. If you're into heavy music at all, I thoroughly recommend you give them a listen.
