She posted on her official Facebook page:
"Just when I thought true love was a myth...
I met and got married to a funky British gentleman.
I wish to continue to deliver music filled with love, to every one of you who are generous enough to support me.
Rie xx"She also stated on her Facebook page (with a little help from Google translate and my Japanese dictionary):
"He is full of humour and affection, and above all else, he has been sincerely supportive of my songs."Congratulations to Rie Fu and her new husband!
おめでとうございます!
For anyone who has signed up for tickets to "fu fes" vol.2 Tokyo, which takes place on 14 December at Roppongi Super Deluxe, there is a free gift of a new song called "My Wedding", which she had written especially for the wedding. Ticket applicants will be emailed the download link for the song.
I was lucky enough to meet Rie Fu back in 2007 after she played a small gig at the Soho Revue Bar, London. At that time she was studying for a degree in Fine Art at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, where she graduated later that year.
Rie Fu recently released an album of Carpenters songs simply called "Rie Fu Sings The Carpenters". The Carpenters are a major influence on her music, and the album is available now. It's also available for download on the US iTunes.
Here's a preview of the new album:
Rie Fu also recorded a new song "Dear Karen", dedicated to Karen Carpenter, which is featured on the new album. There is an English version, and a Japanese version.
